Govt committed to develop State on modern lines :Bhalla

JAMMU, DECEMBER 14-Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said that coalition Government is committed to develop every nook and corner of the three regions of the State on modern lines by providing all basic amenities at their doorsteps.
The minister said this while addressing a large gathering at Gandhi Nagar, after laying the foundation of various development works, including laying of water supply pipes and pre-mixing of internal links at Lower Gaddigarh, interlock tiles and grating work at Digiana near Shishu Mandir and development of park in B/B block in Gandhi Nagar, to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 20 lakh.
The Minister said that Government has framed a comprehensive strategy for developing the tourism infrastructure in Bagh-e-Bahu, adding that the area is blessed with all the potential that could bring it up on the tourist map of the country.
Bhalla said the tourism potential of Bagh-e-Bahu and its adjoining areas would also be developed in a proper manner under Bahu Fort Tourism circuit, adding that implementation of JNRUM also guarantees the beautification of Jammu city. He said that restoration and conservation works on Dogra Heritage, Mubarak Mandi Complex and centuries old Bahu Fort has been already taken up. He said a whooping amount of over Rs. 250 crore is being incurred on the restoration of these heritage monuments. He said Golf Course, Sidhra is also being developed at a total cost of Rs. 44 crore and added that the nine Hole first phase of the Course would Tee-Off in March next.
Mr. Bhalla said that a Tourist Reception Centre, with modern facilities, at Railway Station Jammu, would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 10 cr adding that historical Peerkhoo Temple is also being developed at a cost of Rs. 3.50 crore, adding that a Theme Park would also be developed near Peerkhoo for the attraction of the tourists. He said in this regard a project has been formulated and work would be started on Public-Private-Partnership mode.
Bhalla said that Government has earmarked Rs. 3.5 crore for construction of receiving station at Sanjay Nagar and Rs. 4 crore for parking slot at Shastri Nagar near cremation ground. For improving the drinking water facilities in the uncovered areas of the Model Town, Preet Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar and Digiana ashram, a 25000 gallon capacity mini tube well costing Rs. 3.5 crore is being constructed, besides lying of water supply pipes.
The Minister said that the Government has earmarked Rs. 22.15 crore for covering, channeling and construction of culverts over Landoi Choi nallah from Gandhi Nagar to Railway station adding that 5795 meter long nallah, triple cell box drain of 74 meter length near Gandhi Nagar Gurudwara and nine new culverts at different locations have been completed while left out works of nallah would be completed by March 2011 by Economic Reconstruction agency (ERA).
