Farmers’ training programme commences | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 14: A 5-day long training programme for farmers within the state under support to State Extension Programme for Extension Reforms organized by Command Area Development began today. As many as 40 farmers from all the blocks of Samba district are participating in the training programme under the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) programme. The training, programme was inaugurated by Nirmal Sharma, Director Command Area Development, Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, Nirmal laid stress upon bridging the gap between Research generated and its practical implementation in the field. Appreciating the concentrated efforts of the Research Scientists of the SKUAST- Jammu, Sharma interacted with the farmers and advised them to adopt and implement the knowledge gained through the said training for uplift of their social status and act as model farmers for their respective areas and promote new technologies. District Agriculture Office, CAD, Kulbushan Sambyal apprised the participating participants about the ATMA programme, its need, importance and implementation strategy by involving the synergistic association of core stake holders i.e. Farmers and Agriculture & its allied departments for overall improvement of agriculture as a whole and ultimately uplift of rural agrarian masses in a sustainable manner and providing of food security to ever increasing population. All the experts from the Department and SKUAST entertained queries of the farmers and guided them to implement new technologies in their fields and to keep on interaction with the specialists so as to maintain the linkage and feed-back generated can be assessed for the quantum of improvement technologies.
