Govt wants to restrict freedom of media: Durga Dass
12/14/2010 11:37:12 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 14: The highly condemnable attitude of the government is quite reflective of its demeanor shown against the best newspaper of the state that has stuck to the ethical journalism in spite bearing various brunts stated BJP MLA Durga Dass.
The stoppage of the advertisement by the government to Early Times does not have added any good marks to the receding popularity of the present incumbent, but has given a popular reason to the people of the state to concur that by gagging its freedom, the government has openly admitted its helplessness in running a governance of morals and have resorted to petty means by gagging the media.
The issue of selective stoppage of advertisements by the government seems to be a ploy to restrict the freedom of expression in the state particularly the freedom of media to report, comment and analyze the issues of public importance.
