Playing his part, Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), from Udhampur constituency raised voice for establishing of much awaited university campus in his constituency. Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) youth leader Sunny Mahajan alleged that MLA and his party colleagues are deliberately indulging in cheap politics over establishing of university campus of Udhampur to get political mileage. Mahajan said that in August 2003, announcement of package of Rs 30 crore to JU by the then PM, including Rs 5 crore each for Udhampur and Kathua campuses was already done by BJP and to which works are starting soon. He warned MLA to refrain from such anti-people activities as such acts will no longer be tolerated anymore. “People have elected me to raise their genuine issues pertaining to them and I will continue to do so in better interest of the masses, particularly for the people of my constituency” Balwant Singh Mankotia said. He said people are facing hardships on various fronts which need immediate addressing and by raising these issues in no way amounts to grabbing of political mileage. Political experts are of view that university camps at Udhampur is no way an issue for BJP but staging protest infront of Raughnath temple for freeing its one of the building occupied by security personals by Mankotia has surely irritated BJP. Issue being public related and more than 15 lakh people in Jammu and in its surroundings are concerned to which BJP did not wanted to miss at any cost, but Mankotia being MLA of Udhampur has shown concern worth appreciations, they added. Meanwhile, BJP is engaged in preparations for November 23,24 programmes being organized at Jammu, wherein number of national executive members and leaders are expectedly participating, sources informed. It is important to mention that BJP organized unabated protests for the last two-three against Omar Abdullah remark on accession and continuous discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh regions.
