9th Veeranna Aivalli Memorial Debate | Banday bags first prize, Abhinandan awarded second | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 15: Team from the Government Engineering and Technology lifted glittering Veeranna Aivalli memorial running trophy in the 9th Veeranna Aivalli Memorial inter-collegiate/departmental debating competition organized by Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) and the Department of Students Welfare of University of Jammu at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium. This debate is organized every year by IIPA in memory of Veeranna Aivalli (IPS), Former Chief of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security and Former Vigilance Commissioner of J&K and the Founder member of IIPA. Bandey Zain-ul-Abdeen from the Department of Political Science bagged first prize whereas Abhinandan Singh from Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) Jammu and Anshul Gupta from Government M.A.M College were adjudged Second and Third. Two Consolation prizes were awarded to Anjum Tahir from GGM Science College (Evening) and Rakshit Sharma from GGM Science College (Morning). Topic of the debate was In the Opinion of the House, “Excessive use of Technology in day to day Communication, is leading to loss of personal touch”. Director General of Police (DGP) Kuldeep Khoda (IPS) was the Chief Guest on this occasion and J.A Khan (IAS), Economic Advisor, Government of J&K and former Chairman, IIPA presided over the Prize Distribution Function. Prof. Rita Jitendra, Jagdish Chander and V. N. Sharma were the Adjudicators while Neena Gupta acted as Rapporteur. In his welcome address Dr. Ashok Bhan, Chairman, IIPA, highlighted the achievements of Veeranna Aivalli during his service carrier. Vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Jasbir Singh, Co-Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, University of Jammu.
