| Misfire by BSF man results in injuries to 2 | | Cop injured during encounter at Handwara | | Srinagar, November 6: A student is among the two persons injured in a firing incident at Tral following which people observed a total shut down the towns and held massive protests against the Border Security Force (BSF). Meanwhile a police constable was injured, when militants fired upon a police party at Handwara. The people were gripped with panic at Tral , when a IInd year student Naheeda Akhter D/O gh Mohd Rather R/O Boochu Tral and a civilian Ab Ahad Shah S/O gh Qadir R/O Gadikhil Charsoo Awantipora were injured by bullets which went off from the service rifle of a BSF personnel from a nearby bunker and hit both Nahid and Shah. The bullets that went off from the BSF personnel of 173 BN from a nearby bunker hit Nahida in her leg and Ab Ahad Shah in feet. The shopkeepers pulled down their shutters and took to streets against the negligence of BSF personnel. The protestors were demanding immediate removal of the BSF bunker from the bus stand. Meanwhile militants fired upon a vehicle of District Police Lines at Handwara following which heavy exchange of fire resulted in injuries to one Selection Grade Constable Nazir Ahmed. He was shifted to hospital immediately. |
