Tension in Pargwal after burglar sets temple afire

JAMMU, Dec 15:Tension gripped the border Pargwal area of Akhnoor after a burglar last night stole two metallic idols of goddess Lakshmi, ornaments and cash from a temple in the village.
Police sources identified the accused as Kamal Singh Chib, son of Sool Singh Chib of Bagwana, Pargwal. He last night allegedly broke into the temple and stole two metallic
idols of the goddess Lakshmi, gold ornaments and Rs 800 in cash, the sources added.
Sources said while fleeing the spot, he set afire the temple. He was, however, caught by the villagers and handed over to police. Another report said he was apprehended by BSF personnel at a checking point at Pargwal late last night. Police had registered a case against him.
