Civil Secretariat, other darbar move offices reopen in Jammu
Azad inspects offices, asks for better upkeep of old record

Jammu, November 06 - Civil Secretariat and other darbar move offices reopened here today.
Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad reached the Civil Secretariat exact at 9.30 A. M. where he was received by the Ministers, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, other senior civil and police officers, President and other functionaries of civil secretariat (non-gazetted ) employees union.
Chief Minister was also presented a guard of honour by a contingent of the state police.
Mr. Azad accompanied by cabinet Ministers, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and other senior officers went round various offices both in the main secretariat building and the adjoining block. He also inspected the dispensary and canteen.
Chief Minister ordered for better upkeep of old records by making its triplicate copies and shifting the same to safe record rooms.
Mr. Azad was satisfied with the arrangements made for reopening of Civil Secretariat and other darbar move offices by the concerned departments.
Civil secretariat (non-gazetted) employees union expressed thanks for the arrangements of accommodation made for the employees. They also demanded that the secretariat canteen be expanded.
Later, Azad chaired a meeting of Financial Commissioners, Principal Secretaries, Commissioners/ Secretaries and Secretaries to Government immediately after reopening of Civil Secretariat here today.
Chief Minister advised that all Secretaries to Government should ensure punctuality of employees not only in Civil Secretariat but in the field offices as well as at district, tehsil and block levels. He also advised them to conduct extensive touring for this purpose and also for assessing execution of development works.
Referring to management of records, Chief Minister said that weeding out off old records should be done as per the procedure laid down in the secretariat manual. A special drive should be launched to weed out old records which are no longer relevant and management of the records which are current. He said this should be completed within six months. Chief Secretary will discuss this matter in the secretaries meeting and issue necessary guidelines.
Mr. Azad said that administrative secretaries should monitor all schemes being executed under double shift system through a monthly meeting.
