Muharram procession taken out in Leh

LEH, Dec 16: Despite chilling cold, thousands of devotees took out Muharram procession on the 10th day of Muharram.
Procession started at 10 am in the morning from Chutairantak Masjid and went all along the main bazaar. At Jamia Masjid Leh, procession halted for some time. Apart from Shia and Sunni Muslims, other community members also observed Muharram by shutting down their shops and offices.
While addressing the procession, Sheikh Javid Ahmed appealed youth in particular and public in general not to harm anyone. On the occasion, many religious leaders appealed youth to donate blood. Muslim all over the world observe this day on every tenth day of Muharram which is called ‘Ashura’. Thousands of devotees on this day by hurting them show their concern for their imams.
