Home Guards demand hike in pay

JAMMU, Dec 16: All J&K Home Guard Welfare Association Jammu has said that despite their protests for the last over four years the State governemtn is still playing with their basic rights and sentiments.
Addressing a press conference here today, the members of the association said that they are doing the work in regular uniforms but they are being paid a meager amount even not enough for 2 times’ meals.

The members said that they will not compromise on any of their demands and sought the pay scale at par with Punjab government; the Home Guards said that they don’t want the pay for 13 working days but for full 30 days.
They rued that government has left no option for them expect to die of hunger, but they warned the State Government rather to die with hunger due to which taking extreme step is the only option left for them. The members added that they will resort to self immolations if their demands are not fulfilled.
