Mangat inaugurates Income Tax Help Centre

November 06 - Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma has said that Income Tax Department is the back bone of country’s economy and it is prime duty of every individual to deposit voluntarily due share of payable income tax and contribute their share in the nation’s building.
He was addressing at an inaugural function of income tax help centre set up at Income Tax complex, Rail Head Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
Minister of State for Finance, Revenue and Law Mr. Prem Sagar Aziz, President Retailer Traders Associations Mr. Yash Paul Gupta, President Income Tax Bar Association, Charted Accountant and Chairman and NIRC and representatives and members of various trades and commerce associations were present.
Mr Sharma asked the IT officers to launch mass awareness to motivate people to come forward and deposit their payable tax which will help boost country’s economy and also help them achieving various facilities to boost their trades. He urged that IT procedure be simplified and make transparent so that every lay man easily follow the formalities. He said that income tax jurisdictions be extended to every tax payer and provide every possible assistance to them but at the same time tax evaders be strictly dealt with.
Mr. Sharma said that help centre established in the Divisional Office will provide latest and hassle free internet service to tax payers and they can operate it while sitting in their offices and business houses.
Mr. Sharma said that officers and other employees working in the central government offices are our guests and it is our responsibility to provide them better facilities for achieving the target fixed for the purpose. Matter regarding construction of residential colony for the Central government employees, Minister said that Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has already issued directions to Jammu Development Authority for identification and acquisition of suitable land in Trikuta Nagar and the similar process is also underway in Srinagar.
Commissioner Income Tax J&K Circle Mr. Varindera Singh giving a brief of the help centre said that a brad-band computer connection with internet facility has been installed in the help centre with e-filling of corporate tax returns. He asked the representatives of different traders, commerce and businessman community to extend their cooperation and help the department to bring under the ambit of Income Tax will- full tax evaders but he said that tax payers will be provided every assistance while tax evaders will face the wrath of law.
Mr. Ram Sahai, Mr. Yash Paul Gupta also spoke on the occasion.
