Chopra murder case reopened; SIT visits victim's house at T Ngr | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 16: After the police failure to extract anything from the alleged main accused Sangram Singh, a special investigation team (SIT) has been constituted to probe into the 2006 Chopra murder case afresh. Rajinder Bhushan Chopra (contractor), his wife Madhu Chopra, daughter Saloni and two servants were mercilessly murdered at theirTrikuta Nagar residence on September 16 night.Sangram of Guna in Madhya Pradesh, alleged to be the main accused in the case, was arrested and put to narco test. When, in the narco test, police failed to get any evidence as regards the gruesome killings, a need was felt to start the probe afresh. For the purpose, SIT was formed by police eadquarters on December 13 last. While DIG Farooq Khan is its head, SP (CI) Romesh Kumar Angral, SP (armed) Mahadeep Singh and DSP (CI) Muzaffar Hussain Shah are its members. The team had been asked to complete its probe within one month and submit the report, police sources said. The old police team, which remained associated with the case, was asked to assist the new team, the sources added. The new team today visited Chopra's residence at Trikuta Nagar and examined the spot. Chopra's son Puneet said the new police team came their home and spent some time examining the spot. It is pertinent to mention here that Puneet has been demanding a CBI probe into the incident. |
