JAMMU, Dec 17: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party president and MLA, Balwant Singh Mankotia has demanded immediate appointment of Heads of Right to Information Commission, Vice Chancellor Central University and State Accountability Commission in the state.
In an hour long meeting with Governor NN Vohra here at Raj Bhawan today, Mankotia strongly impressed upon the governor to appoint the Chief Information Commissioner and Chairman of the defunct State Accountability Commission alleging that corruption has touched new heights under the present Cong-NC coalition regime.
Balwant Singh Mankotia further discussed holding of early Panchayat elections with Amendment of 73rd and 74th of Panchayat Act so that there is no scope of nomination of the district Panchayat chairman and other members and identical tenure of Assembly and Panchayats for the smooth functioning of all institutions. He said that the Panchayat election should be held on party basis so that growing alienation of the people from the political system may be eliminated.
JKNPP president also discussed the growing anger among the people of Jammu regarding the adamant attitude of the state administration on the issue of re-opening of the gates of Raghunath Mandir, which are closed for the eight years. Mankotia also demanded that Vice Chancellor of Central University Jammu be appointed at the earliest keeping in view the aspirations of the people of Jammu region so that next session may also be not jeopardized.
