11/6/2006 9:44:45 PM

Gulmarg, Nov 06: Serving ultimatum of fifteen days to government, Tourism trade association Gulmarg today threaten to launch an agitation, if government would not reconsider the decision of leasing out the Gulmarg land to Non-State subjects.
While talking to news agency of Kashmir, President Tourist Trade Association, Ghulam Mohd Lone said that there was no question of leasing out the land to Non-State subjects, as it would render the unemployed youth of the area job less. He said adding instead of encouraging the tourist traders Government is snatching their lively hood.
“Gulmarg is our Mother land and we have every right on it” he said alleging “Politicians who were one time advocating not to launch Gondola Project are now trying to sell out the said land”.
Had government came out with some other option which could have been beneficial to the tourist trade community in particular and inhabitants in general, we would have acknowledged the same, added he.
“The land belongs to us and we will not let any body including government to lease out it”, Abdul Ahad Bakshi, secretary general Tourist Trade association Gulmarg told NAK adding during the time of English rulers there was not even the question of constructing a concrete building
It is pertinent to mention here that Government has decided to lease out the land to the business organizations of the country.
“Government constructed public Parks in the area but unfortunately our kids can not visit these parks”, he said adding if the land is leased out to Non-Locals our children have to suffer as they would not be able to pay handsome amount as tourists are paying.
The traders association has also appealed to chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to reconsider the decision and clarify the order of leasing out the land of Gulmarg which according to them would become victim of the politics.
