Nationalist forces have subjugated various fields of life: BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, DEC 17: The unprecedented victory of the Indian forces in 1971 war had provided a great opportunity to settle all the problems with Pakistan but this was not only lost at the diplomatic front but also in the name of permanent peace with the hostile neighbour, large areas of Jammu and Kashmir in Chhamb Sector were surrendered to the enemy. It was done because of lack of vision and no lesson was taken from the follies of the past. This was observed by the former Union Minister of State for Defence and leader of the BJP Legislators Party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta here while interacting with a group of ex-servicemen including some from Chhamb areas who called upon the BJP leader on the eve of Vijay Divas. He said that the problems in Kashmir are the result of bundle of wrongs committed by the ruling leadership of the Congress and its allies. The ex-servicemen from Chhamb areas expressed their anger by pointing out that their areas having about thirty villages, has now been virtually converted by Pakistan into their cantonment as also the centers of training for terrorism. No Hindu Sikh have left there and these migrants numbering about thirty thousand still remain to be settled permanently. He pointed out that the Instrument of Accession signed by the Maharaja Hari Singh was similar one to that was signed by over 560 other princes and Nawabs but ignoring the fact of the history and the Constitutional obligations, the Chief Minister of this State has termed the Accession as a “dispute” and the Home Minister of the country and some others do not find anything objectionable into such utterances. The BJP leader pointed out that how the nationalist forces have been subjugated in various fields of life and particularly referred to grant of just 37 Assembly and two Lok Sabha seats to Jammu despite having double the geographical area and almost equal number of electorates to that of Kashmir Valley which has been provided 46 Assembly and three Lok Sabha seats. And above all an embargo has been put that there would be no delimitation of Constituencies till 2026. It is height of injustice, he added. The ex-servicemen also listed their problems and the discriminatory attitude of the ruling class of the State.
