Shias take out tazia procession

Jammu, Dec 17: Within the tears and the swish of chains inflicting pain, the young and old devotees remembered their revered Imaam Hussain large number of Shias today took out the tazia (mourning) procession on the occasion of Moharram
The processionists were received by their Hindu and Sikh brethren enroute presenting the picture of traditional brotherhood and amity for which the Jammu is renowned for. Many hindu families took their children to seek blessings of the revered Horse a symbol of the martyrdom of Prophet with a faith that it will keep their children away from the evil eye and give a long happy life.
Muharram procession starting from Imam Bargah PirMitha under the banner of Anjumn-e-Imamia Jammu and several other Anjumans merged with it. The procession passed through its tradition and designated route.
Hundreds of Shia mourners carrying Alams (flags) in their hands reciting Marsia, wailing and beating their chests joined the procession which culminated into a religious congregation at Imambara Peermitha at late Friday night.
Devotees of Shia Muslim Community participated in large, where as members of cross section of communities facilitated them. The processionists were Mourning (Seena Kubi) in memory of first sacrifice of 18 years young, Imam Qasim in Karbala who was nephew of Imam Hussain (A.S). His marriage was fixed on 7th of Muharram.
Authorities on this occasion have made elaborate arrangements to avoid any untoward happening.
