| Police file status report in Giri encounter case | | | ET REPORT
Jammu, Dec 17: As per the direction of High Court, the police through Additional Advocate General filed status report in much publicized encounter which took place near Satyam Resorts in which one Rakesh Kumar alias Giri and Yudhvir alias Babloo was injured. Sumit Choudhary alias Sunny Baba, according to the police fled away while firing on police party. The injured were immediately shifted GMC Jammu where Rakesh Kumar alias Giri succumbed to injuries.
In the status report filed by SHO P/S Channi Himmat, it has been submitted that on November 21, 2010 constable Swarn Lal P/s Miran Sahib produced docket at P/S Channi Himmat Jammu on behalf of SHO P/S Miran Sahib to the effect that on the same day when SHO along with Nafri of P/S Miran Sahib on patrolling, it was reliable learned that accused Rakesh Kumar alias Giri, Yudhvir Singh alias Babloo who are wanted in many cases in different police stations are present in Dak Bunglow Maralian. In this regard a special team was constituted to nab these criminals. On this information SHO Miran Sahib along with Nafri on police gypsy rushed to Dak Bunglow Maralian and found that the accused persons fled away to wards Jammu City. SHO along with Nafri came to Jammu in search of the accused persons. When SHO along with Nafri Reached near Satyam Resort Channi Himmat Jammu about 5:30 PM, accused Rakesh alias Giri, Yudhvir Singh alias Babloo and Sumit Choudhary alias Sunny alias Saleem Sheikh on Pulsar Motorcycle came from Marbel Market. They were signaled to stop. But accused Rakesh Kumar alias Giri and Sumit Choudhary alias Sunny Baba opened fire upon police party with criminal intention to kill the police personnel. Yudhvir Singh alias Babloo stopped the Motorcycle and he also started firing on the police party. Then police also opened fire in self-defence. In the exchange of fire accused Rakesh Kumar alias Giri and Yudhvir Singh received injuries but accused Sumit Choudhary alias Saleem Sheikh succeed to fled away.
During the course of investigation, the weapon of offence and weapons used by the police party/ their ammunitions used/ live were seized. One AK-47, 8 empty cartridges of AK 47, 3 Magazines of AK-47 along with 22 alive rounds, Desi Katta, four alive rounds of 315, Pistol 7.65 USA Made, 2 empty cartridge of 7.65, Magazine 7.65 pistol along with 4 alive cartridges, Pistol 9 MM, Magazine 9MM along with 8 alive rounds, empty cartridges 9MM=02 rounds and also seized a Gypsy used by police party.
In the status report it has been mentioned that during the course of investigation it came to light that some people hatching a criminal conspiracy to eliminate prime witnesses in Amandeep Singh's Murder case and S. Sudershan Singh Wazir who is perusing the case. It has been established so far that accused Yudhvir Singh, Rakesh Kumar alias Giri and Sumit Choudhary who are well known notorious criminals and are involved in large number of cases made on unsuccessful attempts to eliminate S Sudershan Singh Wazir. On the day of occurrence all the three accused along with others were making plan to achieve the target but when police noticed their activities, they fled away towards Jammu City.
During the encounter accused Rakesh Kumar succumbed to injuries. In the case three suspects Garh Suresh Kumar @ Tunda r/o Songal Akhnoor, Akram Khan, Jatinder Kumar alias Bilu both r/o Nowshera Rajouri have been arrested and are in police custody on remand. The case is under investigation. JNF |
