Govt lost its credibility in the state: Manhas | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 17: Bharatiya Janta party has strongly condemned the recklessness exhibited by the present incumbency to strip the state's most principled newspaper of its right to advertisement. In a statement issued here, BJP president Shamsher Singh has condemned the high handedness of the state administration in working on its own whims and fancies and has said that wherein the chief minister of the state utters anything on its own, anything can be expected out of this government that can harm the social fabric of the state. "It is an irony that government has behaved in most irresponsible way in curtting off the advertisement revenue to the newspaper that has been reporting fearlessly and without any prejudice. He said that by doing so, government has projected its behavior as that of a dictatorship wherein the freedom of press has no meaning. "Omar Abdullah government has apparently shown that it has lost its credibility in the state and by resorting to small and petty things by gagging the media, it has proved to be anti-people governance that needs to be shown doors immediately," said Shamsher Singh. |
