MIET organizes third national conference on Next-Generation Computing | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 18: The third edition of the National Conference on Next-Generation Computing and Information Systems (NGCIS’10) got underway today at the Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), at its Kot Bhalwal campus. NGCIS is the first annual National Conference on Computing in the State of J&K and organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Prof. Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, inaugurated the conference. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest appreciated the initiative taken by MIET in organizing the conference on a very relevant emerging theme. He hoped that such events with participation of the industry and stalwarts from the international research community would help in establishing a culture of research and development in the region. He hoped that MIET would continue to provide academic leadership in the region through the organization of many more such events. Earlier. Arun K. Gupta director MIER Group of Institutions in his address expressed his gratitude to the dignitaries, industry representatives and the delegates for making NGCIS’10 a grand success. He apprised the audience that although MIET was primarily operating only under-graduate courses, where research is not an integral part,its faculty members had managed to produce over 110 research papers in the last 3 years in addition to 2 patents which were filed at the Indian Patents Office a few days back..
