| Mattoo case: Retrial from Aug 31 | | | New Delhi, July 28: CBI today moved the Delhi High Court seeking an early hearing of the appeal in the sensational Priyadarshini Mattoo murder case.
A division bench of Justice R S Sodhi and Justice P K Bhasin posted the matter for further hearing to August, 31, 2006.
Appearing for the CBI, additional Solicitor General Gopal Subramaniam told the court that the agency had completed the translation of the trail court proceddings and was willing to proceed with the appeal hearing.
Speaking to reporters for the first time, Chaman Lal Mattoo father of Priyadarshini demanded a retrial of the case and sought that the case should be sent to a fast-track court.
Priyadarshini was allegedly raped and murdered by Santosh Kumar, son of an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer.
Police had arrested Santosh but the trial court had let him off for want of evidences.
‘A retrial is all we want. Justice though delayed should be done,’ said the father.
