| Human Rights seminar held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 19: A Human Rights seminar will be conducted under the aegis of White Knight Corps on 20 & 21December in Sangha Auditorium at Akhnoor.
During the course of the seminar visiting dignitaries will express their perspectives and discuss issues related to Human Rights and National Security.
The theme selected for the seminar is ‘Human Rights and National Security-Complementary Goals’.
The Seminar will examine and highlight the upholding of human rights while ensuring national security and challenges faced by armed forces in operating in insurgency prone areas.
One session will be devoted to contribution by media in encounter infiltration and counter terrorism environment, as pertaining to J&K.
The seminar will be attended by large number of senior army and PMF/CPO officers and students from the University of Jammu.
The seminar is an attempt by the White Knight Corps to generate awareness about the issues related to human rights and is likely to prove invaluable in further evolution of the strategy by the armed forces for their counter insurgency operations in Jammu & Kashmir and North East.
The participants who are of national repute, include Balraj Puri, Padma Bhushan, chairman, Institute of J&K State Affairs, Varun Sahni VC, Jammu University, Justice BC Patel, member NHRC, Kuldeep Khoda, DG Police (J&K), Lt Gen (Retd) VG Patankar, PVSM,UYSM, VSM, Vrinda Grover, HR activist & lawyer and eminent media persons like Nitin Gokhale, senior editor, defence and strategic affairs of NDTV and Manoj Mitta, senior editor, Times of India.
