EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 19: Slamming National Conference led regime for brazenly abusing the state apparatus to suppress genuine aspirations of the common masses, People Democratic Party (PDP) today cautioned that artificial calm created at gun point would be proved disastrous for the State.
PDP regretted that instead of presenting human face to heal wounds of the masses, this regime has been indulged into adopting oppressive measures to gag voice of the people.
Addressing one day convention of the district committee members of the Kishtwar district, PDP leaders said that peoples’ faith in the democracy has been shattered because this regime has snatched fundamental rights of the people through gun and draconian laws.
With the help of draconian methods this regime has been denying fundamental rights to the people and this action of the government were causing incalculable damage to people’s faith in democracy and democratic institutions, they said and mentioned that people have been denied even right to perform their religious duties by seizing religious places during Friday prayers.
PDP leaders said through tyranny and cruelty the regime headed by Omar Abdullah has been trying to establish its authority which would prove counterproductive, they said and regretted that during the last two years killing of innocent people has become a routine affair.
“Uninterrupted misuse of draconian methods by the present government to stifle genuine voice of the masses has fueled alienation among the people”, they observed and added that this regime was seemed to be not ready to accept the ground realities. They further warned that no strong arm methods have ever succeeded in defeating an idea and it was tragic that the government was refusing to learn from its blunders.
