Stadium (Sr) XI wins by 15 runs in T20 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, December 20: The star-studded side of Senior Stadium XI Jammu faced a tough contest from young side of Utawla Cricket Club (UCC) Kathua before they won the tie by a margin of 15 runs in the DySP Manjit Singh Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament underway at Sports Stadium Kathua, here today. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Stadium XI set a target of 139 runs for the loss of nine wickets, which, in reply, UCC Kathua could not chase and completed their allotted quota of 20 overs for 123 runs with one wicket in hand. Sagar played fine innings of 16-ball 25 runs while Chetan contributed 28-ball 30. First class cricketer, Amit Billoria was top scorer with 40 runs. From UCC, Bali claimed three wickets while Ankush and Nitin shared two each. Batting second, UCC made great efforts to overhaul the opponent total but could not maintain the required run rate. The side played full 20 overs to reach a total of 123 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Rohit made 18-ball 18 runs, followed by Rohan, who contributed 25. Manjit scored highest 35 runs coming off just 20 deliveries with the help of a six and four boundaries. Deepak was most successful bowler from Stadium XI, who clinched four wickets for 21 runs. Interjeet took three for 21. For his four-wicket haul, Deepak was adjudged man of the match.
Big win for Sandhu Club Ludhiana
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Sandhu Cricket Club (SCC) Ludhiana defeated Patel Nagar Club Kathua by 70 runs. Batting first, SCC made highest total of the tournament, 182 runs for the loss of four wickets. Lalit played quick-fire innings of 17-ball 32 runs while Vipan (32) and Sumit (27 off 17 balls) also did a fine job. Inder was highest run getter with unbeaten 45 off 33 balls including a six and six fours. From Patel Club, Himanshu claimed two wickets. In reply, Patel Club could make only 112 runs losing all their wickets in 19 overs. Prikshit scored maximum 30 runs. Yogesh and Varun claimed three wickets each from SCC while Vipin took two. For his unbeaten innings of 45 runs, Inder was declared man of the match.
