R.S. College celebrates annual day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, DEC 20: R.S. College of Education, Kathua celebrated its annual day where Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment, Abdul Gani Malik was the chief guest while MLA, Kathua, Mr. Charanjeet Singh Jasrotia was the guest of honour. The function started with the lightening of traditional lamp by the chief guest and Sarswati Bandhna. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Malik appreciated the efforts of college management in providing quality education to the students hailing from different states of the country and stressed upon the college teachers to provide quality education to students in their respective subjects with message of mutual brotherhood and communal harmony. The Minister directed the college management to initiate steps for special tour of college students of this college to visit various sites in the state both in Kashmir valley and Jammu region as well. He said that educational tours play a very important role in strengthening mutual understanding among the people of other states. MLA Kathua while speaking on the occasion exhorted upon the teaching community to provide quality education to the students. He also sought funds for fencing of the college land from the Minister. Director Colleges Development Council, Rajiv Gupta also spoke on the occasion and said that there are 170 colleges out of which 75 are B. Ed colleges and all the colleges are providing quality education to the students. He further said that at present there are 21,000 students are on rolls of these colleges out of which only 7000 students are from within the state and rest are out of state. Earlier the Chairman of the college K.K. Bakshi in his welcome address appreciated the efforts of Mr. Malik for providing adequate staff and infrastructural facilities at all colleges of the state. Principal of R.S. College, S. Dr. Jagmohan Singh presented vote of thanks.
