| Shaheen tours remote areas of Sumar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Banihal , Dec 20: National Conference leader Sajjad Shaheen made a two days extensive tour of Harog, Megdhar, Jawari, Moranch, Sumar and Bajmasta villages to take stock of the problems faced by the people living in these backward and remote areas of Tehsil Banihal and addressed a series of public meetings during the tour.
People from various sections of society met Shaheen and apprised him about day to day problems faced by them due to lack of basic facilities like drinking water, electricity, health care, road connectivity, educational infrastructure in the area.
People also informed Shaheen that dozens of houses besides hundreds of kanals of land has been damaged due to construction of road by IRCON and PMGSY and no compensation has been paid to the effected families so far. People also complained that Job cards under MGNREGS have not been issued to the villagers in spite of their repeated requests to the concerned department. People also put forth several demands which include opening of Primary Health Centre in Sumar, upgradation of high school Sumar and primary school Jawari and Bajmasta.
Shaheen while addressing rally at Sumar expressed deep anguish over the deplorable condition of the people of the area who have been neglected so far and are still striving for basic facilities. He assured the public that their demands will be brought in the notice of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his personal attention will sought for the development of this area on top priority.
Four hundred Political workers from BJP,PDP,BSPand Congress joined National Conference in presence of Sajjad Shaheen and resolved to strengthen the party at the grass root level.
