| Lecture on “Indian Ocean and India’s Security Matrix” held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 20: The Department of Strategic and Regional Studies (DSRS), University of Jammu, Jammu organized a Public Lecture on “Indian Ocean and India’s Security Matrix” at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, on December on Monday. The Inaugural Session was marked by the Welcome address by Dr. Mohd. Monir Alam, Director In charge, Dept. of Strategic and Regional Studies, University of Jammu.
The Lecture was delivered by Major General Ajay Kumar Chaturvedi. Gen. Chaturvedi started his lecture with historical significance of the Indian Ocean. He emphasized on the importance of Indian Ocean by stating that the Indian Ocean and its littoral sates are of immense significant and importance. In fact, the region contains 1/3 of the world’s population, 25% of its landmass, 40 % of the world’s oil and gas reserves. So, the Indian Ocean is to very important for India from economic, political, legal and military perspectives.
