Rotary Club distributes sweaters to school children in Darhal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 20: On the onset of winters Rotary Club of Darhal Malikan distributes free sweaters to school children in Darhal. More than 100 sweaters were distributed among poor and needy children of four government schools of zone Darhal by Rotarians in December. Main function held at Govt. Middle School Pati, Chowkian, December 6 in which village locals, NGO personal, religious leaders and concerned government officials took part. About 70 sweaters were distributed to all the students, physically present, in two rural schools viz. Govt Middle School Pati and Govt. Primary School, Chowkian on the day. Zonal Education Officer, Munir Hussain Kassana who presided over the function applauded the role of Rotary International in general and Rotary Club Darhal in particular for this generous donation and other community services to the poor and needy people from time to time. Zonal Education Planning Officer Mohd Rafiq Ganai, religious leader Hafiz Mohd Sayeed and Rtn. Rashid Qamar also spoke on the occasion. Later, a similar function held at Govt. Primary School, Patathana, on December 18, in which 20 sweaters were given away to children of extremely poor backgrounds in presence of village Surpanch Mohd Yaqub Malik and other locals. The remaining sweaters were donated to some orphans in other schools of zone. President of club, Dr. M. Ashaq Raza, a peace worker and also founder of Attitude Change International, thanked Zonal Education Officer and community members for accepting this small token of help from Rotarians and expressed his hopes to help the other educational institutions in some other way in near future - while keeping the spirit of Rotary “Service Above Self” alive.
