JKAACL presents best photography competition awards, 2010 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 20:Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) held an award function to present best photography competition awards 2010 to seven awardees. The expert committee did not recommend first prize, however, the second award carrying cash prize of Rs 10000 to Channi Anand of Jammu for his exhibit titled ‘Appetite Nourishing’. The third prize carrying a cash prize of Rs 7000 was given to Abrar Ali of Kashmir for his exhibit titled ‘Together’ Five consolation prizes of Rs 1000 each were presented to Adeel Ahmad, Arshad Hussain, Muhammad Abdullah, Mahavash Masood and Neeraj Sharma. The awards were presented by noted writer, critic and historian, Mohammad Yusuf Taing. Additional Secretary, JKAACL Savita Bakshi welcomed the chief guest and said that the aim of photography awards was to encourage photographers and to provide them platform for display of their exhibits. Mohammad Yusuf Taing congratulated the academy for encouraging different aspects of culture including photography which played an important role in preserving cultural ethos of the state. The awards were adjudged by a committee of experts that included noted photo expert Diwan Manna of Delhi also.
