| Rs 47 lacs released under RKVY for Doda: MLA Doda | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
DODA, Dec 20:MLA Abdul Majid Wani along with Deputy Commissioner Doda Farooq Ahmad Khan, today, inaugurated “Walnut Show” at Town Hall Doda, today.
Various varieties of walnut were displayed by growers from Kulhand, Dhar Bheli, Bharath, Thathri, Gandoh, Gundna, Marmat, Bhagwah, Bhalles and Bhaderwah.
Prizes were also distributed among progressive walnut growers of the district. Apart from hundreds of fruit andj vegetable growers of Doda district, Joint Director Horticulture Department along-with other district officers of Horticulture, Horticulture Planning & Marketing and Agriculture Departments were also present on the occasion. Addressing gathering on the occasion, MLA Doda said “Horticulture sector has good potential in employment generation right from the stage of tree plantation to the point of produce reaching hands of the consumers. The Government has recently released Rs. 47 lacs for Doda district under RKVY for spread of modern technology. Apart from this, funds to the tune of approximately Rs. 75 lacs are spent every year for providing subsidized fruit tree plants in the district.
