A honeybee keeping project was inaugurated at Channi Morh, Dhar Road, Udhampur today by Kirti Kapoor, President AWWA, Northern Command. The function was attended by AK Kaul, Nodal Officer KVIC, SP Gupta Bank Manager, SBI AF Station, Udhampur, Brig Rakesh Nijhawan, Commander, 611 (I) Air Defence Brigade and host of other dignitaries.
The project started with gathering of ex-servicemen interested in honeybee keeping and accordingly a fifteen days cadre was conducted by the KVIC representatives. A total of twenty five ex-servicemen and their dependents, had attended the beekeeping classes, of which two ex-servicemen namely Ex Hony Sub Maj Gopal Krishan and Ex Hony Nb Sub Shamlal have started the project. Subsequently as per the guidelines of the KVIC project they were sanctioned loans from State Bank of India, Air Force Station Branch, Dhar Road.An exhibition cum sale of various items produced by KVIC in J&K was also organised.
