| MAM to face Commerce in handball final | | Inter-college competitions of JU | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, December 22: Government MAM College shall be playing against Government SPMR College of Commerce to defend title in the ongoing inter-college men’s handball tournament on the campus here tomorrow.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today, Commerce College trounced last year’s runners-up, PG departments 23-21 in a neck to neck contest. Both sides were leveled at 12-12 in the first half of the play.
In other semi-final, title holders, Government MAM College outplayed GGM Science College in a wafer thin margin again in a nail-biting finish 23-22. Ashish Sharma was top scorer from winners with 10 points.
Today’s semi-finals were officiated by Karun Magotra, Sonu and Sudesh Kumar.
Lawn Tennis: PG to meet MAM in final
Title holders, PG Departments shall be playing against Government MAM College in the final of the inter-college men’s lawn tennis tournament underway at GGM Science College courts, here tomorrow.
In the semi-final, played today, MAM College defeated GGM Science College 2-1. The Results: Singles: Mutaif Bilal Butt lost to Arjun Dev Verma 1-6, 3-6; Arjun Sharma bt Raghav Mangotra 6-1, 6-4. Doubles: Arjun Sharma and Saqib Ali Shah bt the pair of Anuj Gupta and Arjun Dev in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
The PG Departments reached the final without playing even a single match. All the three teams pitted against PG in the preliminary round failed to report the venue.
