BJP questions appointment of interlocutors
`Pakistan is an invader’
12/22/2010 8:18:13 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 22: The leader of the BJP Legislators Party Professor Chaman Lal Gupta has asked the ruling leaders of the Congress-NC to explain why they had to hire the services of middlemen to suggest the remedial measures for what is being called as political settlement about the problems in this state.
Commenting upon the statement of the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi at their 83rd plenary session of the party at Burari that to seek reason for turmoil in J&K the appointment of three interlocutors was a setp towards this process that "why a full generation in Kashmir is estranged and the young should be reached out", Gupta said that this is a clear confession about their failures in this sensitive part of the country.
The BJP leader added Kashmir is on turmoil, Jammu and Ladakh are crying for justice but for whose fault, which necessiciated the need for search o a solution. It is the result of lack of vision, appeasement of communalism and discrimination against nationalists, he alleged.
Professor Gupta regretted that instead of tackling the menace of separatism and cross border terror under the law of the land, the Congress leadership appears to be still fiddling with the problems created by them.
He said that the only answer to the situation lies in rectifying the wrongs of the past and J&K should be treated like other parts of the country. “And all the barriers enshrined under Article-370, which was incorporated as a temporary provision, should be demolished. There should be free flow of the Indian Constitution; democratic process should be allowed to function. The despotic approach should be done away with”, he stressed.
Addressing a meeting of party activists of Jammu West Constituency assailed the controversial statement of the Chief Minister, on the issue of accession and observed that a sense of uncertainty is being created. “But it was intriguing that the Congress leadership did not find anything objectionable in it although Omar Abdullah had described Pakistan as a party to what the Chief Minister termed Kashmir Dispute", he said.
The position of Pakistan in J&K, he said is only that of an invader. The 1994 Resolution of the Parliament is very clear in this regard, the BJP leader added.
“In addition to the issue of vacating the aggression and liberating the Pak held areas, the other major problems in this state is that of regional discrimination against Jammu and Ladakh. For which the NC and the Congress are equally guilty. But it was quite deplorable that no steps are being taken to rectify the regional disparities. There is much talk about Autonmy, self-rule and even that of having dialogue with the protagonists of Azadi as also agents of foreign forces. What an outlook?” he questioned.
The BJP leader expressed surprise that the Congress and the NC are much eager for return and rehabilitation of the ultras who had gone to Pakistan/PoK for training in subversive and terrorist activities but these ruling men are little bothered about the rehabilitation of migrants from Pak held areas, Kashmir valley as also from Jammu hills, in addition to grant of citizenship rights to the refugees from Pakistan. “These ruling leaders are not sensitive for granting them even the rights of human beings despite their stay in the border areas for over 63 years now. It is a sad commentary that having communal mind set, the Congress and their allies still talk about zero tolerance against Human Rights abuses”, the BJP leader lamented and regretted that this matter is being linked with forces which are fighting a war against extremism having roots in Pakistan.
Thus, he said, the situation created by the Congress and its dubious allies is a great challenge to the unity and the integrity of the country which needed to be met with determination and mobilization of the nationalist forces.
Gupta appealed to all in J&K to make the Dec. 24 "Ekta Sankalp Rally" a success.
BJP State General Secretary Satish Sharma and State Spokesperson Ramesh Arora were also present in the press conference.
