Lashkar activists waiting to cross into JK

EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu,Dec 22 :-Following foiling of infiltration bid in Rajouri on Tuesday intelligence agencies have received specific inputs indicating that more groups of militants, especially those belonging to the dreaded Lashkar-i-Toiba,have been brought on the launching pads across Poonch and Rajouri for the sole purpose of pushing them into Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said that these militants have been asked to take advantage of the fog that has enveloped the entire Indo-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir. Since the density of fog was going to increase in the near future, militants are likely to try to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir.
The troops and BSF men have been equipped with anti-fog devices but the number of these devices was too meager to serve the purpose. Reports said that more such devices were being made available to the troops shortly.
Sources said that number of other rebel groups were waiting across Kupwara, Keran, Gurez and Machel sectors for infiltrating into the Kashmir valley. The sources said that the agencies across the border have given the task of triggering subversive violence on a big scale not only in Jammu and Kashmir but in other Indian cities including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, to the activists belonging to the Lashkar-i-Toiba.
It is in the context of this development that the security forces, besides the police deployed within the state and the troops guarding the LOC and the IB have been directed to further upgrade the security apparatus to prevent militants from crossing into Jammu and Kashmir.
Reports said that agencies across the border have felt upset over the end to the five-month long civilian strife and over the decline in the activities of militants, whose number too had decreased following their killings in series of encounters with the security forces. Hence these agencies want to make up for the loss of man power by pushing into Jammu and Kashmir more groups of militants.
Reports said that the Lashkar activists besides those heading Hizbul Mujahideen have been told to carry out recruitment of boys in their outfits belonging to Jammu and Kashmir so that they could be used as guides and over ground workers for carrying out acts of violence in the state. As such the situation calls for greater vigilance on the part of the security forces. This is the message given to the security forces.
