| New voters to be provided badges on National Voters Day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Udhampur Dec, 22: In order to discuss the arrangements for celebration of National Voter’s Day on January 25, 2011 at District and Tehsil Headquarters. The District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Udhampur, Baseer Ahmed Khan convened a meeting of concerned officers here today.
Additional District Development Commissioner,. Ram Rattan Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, S. Gurvinderjeet Singh, tehsildars of Chenani, Udhampur, Majalta and Ramnagar tehsil attended the meeting.
It was decided in the meeting that a grand function would be held at District HQ in the conference hall in which District Election Officer would hand over the EPICs to the electors registered in the electoral for the first time. The newly entered voters would also be provided badges with the inscription “Proud to be a Voter - Ready to Vote”, the meeting decided.
Similar facilitation ceremonies would be held at tehsil and polling station level where all the Tehsildars would issue atleast 100 EPICs to the electors enrolled first time in the electoral rolls. The Booth Level Officers would organized similar function at their respective polling stations by distributing EPICs to new voters besides administering the National Voter’s Day pledge to all citizens presents on the occasion.
The Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur was instructed to monitor the entire process of the national voters day to be celebrated on January 25, 2011. He would also chalkout the detail for organizing rallies by involving college and school students on this particular day.
Earlier, the District Election Officer also convened a meeting of officers especially to accelerate the pace of work connected with the Summary Revision of photo electoral rolls in his office chamber.
