| Mir for blending technology with conventional methods | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Poonch, December 22: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir has said that Government is taking every step to make Agriculture and its allied sectors a profitable economic activity in J&K as it has a vast potential of employability for job seekers.
The Minister was speaking at a public meeting after inauguration of Kissan Mela here today. Minister of state for Agriculture, Javid Ahmad Dar also accompanied the Minister. Vice-Chairman, Kissan Welfare Board, Rachpal Singh and MLA, Poonch, Aijaz Jan, besides Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, were also present on the occasion.
This was the 28thKissan Mela in Jammu province organized by Agriculture Department in collaboration with its allied departments.
In the Fair, the department showcased various agricultural achievements and its related sectors by way of adopting modern technical knowhow and disease free seeds for cultivation of various crops.
“Use of modern technology blended with conventional methods could help the State in enhancing the quality production of Agriculture produce so as to enable higher returns” Mir said adding that it would help to persuade the young generation to opt Agriculture and its allied activities as economic activity. He said diverse cropping pattern, utilization of modern farm technology and using of high yielding varieties of seeds besides application of balanced doses of fertilizers were the need of the hour.
