| Azad ministry to be expanded after summer session: Sayeed | | | Srinagar, July 28: The Ghulam Nabi Azad-led coalition ministry in Jammu and Kashmir will be expanded with inclusion of 12 more ministers after the summer session of the assembly, pradesh Congress committee chief Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed said yesterday.
Twelve more ministers will be inducted into the cabinet led by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad shortly after the summer session of the legislative assembly, which begins today and ends on August 5, Sayeed told reporters here.
Azad is now leading a 13-member Council of Ministers and can induct 12 more ministers as per the legislation restricting the number of ministers to 20 per cent of the total strength of both houses.
Admitting increase in militancy related incidents in the state of late, the Congress leader, who is Haj and Waqf Minister, blamed Pakistan for the rise in violence saying Islamabad did not want Kashmiris to live in peace.
However, he advocated continuation of the dialogue process between India and Pakistan for restoration of peace in the state.
He urged Pakistan to keep its promise and stop pushing in militants into the state.
On the recently held elections in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Sayeed said the polls there were farce as nomination papers of majority of the candidates were rejected.
Asked about the action being taken by the Congress against its MLA and former minister G A Mir who was arrested by CBI in connection with the sex racket case last month, he said if the charges against Mir are proved appropriate action would be taken against him.
