AC reviews implementation of assurances pertaining to R&B
Tarigami calls for early fulfillment

Jammu, December 22: Chairman, Assurance Committee (AC) of Legislative Assembly M. Y. Tarigami today asked authorities of Roads and Buildings department to take the assurances given from time to time on the floor of the House seriously and implement these in letter and spirit.
The Committee observed that the assurances pertain to speedy development of infrastructure in various areas and any delay in their implementation would cause agony to the common people.
The Committee which met today, discussed various assurances and status of the several projects under execution in PMGSY and Economic Reconstruction Agency ( ERA) here.
The Committee stressed upon the concerned officers to speed up the process of the disbursement of compensation of land acquired for execution of projects to avoid delay. The Chairman said that delay in the clearance of the land compensation cases not only impedes the pace of progress but also result in the escalation of the project cost.
The meeting held threadbare discussed on various under execution projects under PMGSY and ERA. The meeting was informed that Summery Appraisal Report (SAR) for three projects costing Rs.390.44 crore under ERA have been prepared and submitted to Asian Development Bank (ADB) for approval. These projects included Jehangir Cjowk Flyover in Srinagar, improvement of Vikram Chowk to Satwari chowk Road stretch and Widening of B. C. Road in Jammu city .
The meeting was informed that the approved outlay for 2010-11 under R&B sector in Kashmir Division is Rs.400.05 crore and Rs.187.47 crore have been spent up to November this year out of released allocation of Rs.358.69 crore. The meeting was informed that 2142 schemes are under execution under various sectors. The meeting also informed out of 52 bridges taken up in the Valley 16 have been completed .
Legislators, Jugal Kishore, Charanjit Singh, Javid Mustafa and Durga Dass gave their valuable suggestions for improving the functioning of the department and settlement of compensation of land.
Among others, Principal Secretary, R&B, K . B . Agarwal, Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir Nazir Ahmad, Chief Engineer R&B Jammu D .L. Sharma, Chief Engineer Mechanical Jammu B.A.Dar, Chief Engineer Mechanical, Srinagar, Mr. Muhammad Rafiq Wani, Director ( C ) ERA, O. R. Dubey, Director (T) ERA M. M. Gupta and other senior officers of various wings of public works department and Assembly Secretariat, including Additional Secretary G. H. Dar attended the meeting.
