Physiotherapists lathicharged again, 15 injured

JAMMU, Dec 22:After bearing the brunt of brutal police action yesterday, the protesting physiotherapists today again had to face the wrath of men in khaki as the latter resorted to heavy lathicharge on the protesters, who were trying to take out a protest march towards Raj Bhavan where Chief Minister had gone to attend a meeting .
In today’s police action, at least 15 Physiotherapists got injured. Due to the cane charging few members of Jammu Kashmir Physiotherapists Association (JKPA) fell unconscious. The physiotherapists alleged that Government is misusing police against peaceful protestors.
The physiotherapists after leaving their dharna site headed towards Raj Bhavan in the shape of a rally to resubmit the memorandum to Governor and to protest the yesterday’s use of force by the administration through the state police.
As soon as they reached Panjtirthi chowk, the police personnel deployed there stopped them from moving further.
When the physiotherapists did not budge and insisted on going towards Raj Bhavan, the police used force and resorted to lathicharge to disperse the agitating physiotherapists.
The physiotherapists ran hither-thither to avoid police action but soon reached near Panjhtirthi Chowk however on the intervention of some senior society members and senior police officials who assured protestors that they will take necessary action against the erring cops. Meanwhile, JKPA stir entered into its 30th day today.
All the Physiotherapists gathered in front of the old office complex of Divisional Commissioner in the morning and joined their counterparts sitting overnight there.
The protesting physiotherapists raised slogans against the State Government and in favour of their demands. They condemned yesterday’s forceful action of police due to pressure of Government over the peaceful members of JKPA.
The physiotherapists also lamented the behavior of police Cops with that of the members of JKPA including females in apron alleging that there were no women police cops were present during the whole scenario.
JKPA leaders warned the State Government not to test the patience of peaceful physiotherapists and come up with the policies in favor of the society or they will be forced to leave white aprons and move towards anti-social elements to be eligible for Government’s Rehabilitation Policy.
