Awareness must to safeguard rights: Akhoon | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 23: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) and Transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon has underscored the need for creating awareness among the consumers about their rights and asked the government departments and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to share their responsibility in bringing positive change in the society. He said awareness about the rights is the best safeguard of consumers. The Minister was speaking at an inaugural function of National Consumers Day organized by the Consumer Protection Organization at Press Club here today. Akhoon stressed upon the market checking squad of CA&PD to intensify market checking and book the defaulters indulging in adulteration, hoarding, black marketing and profiteering. He said to check the black marketing of essentials the Government have already issued stock limitation notification with the consent of wholesale and retail dealers association. While speaking on the occasion Director CA&PD Jammu Parvaiz Malik said that the department is organizing mega awareness camp at Ramban in connection with National Consumer Day on December 24. He said during last year consumer awareness programmes were held at Sunderbani, Udhampur, Majalta, Basantgarh, R.S.Pora and Nanak Nagar.
