| Martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Bachan Singh observed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 23: The people of Ramgarh today observed martyrdom anniversary at the memorial site of Shaheed Bachan Singh at Barota in Vijaypur.
Shaheed Bachan Singh who served in Indian Navy laid down his life while fighting the enemy during Goa- operation.
Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports while paying tributes to the great son of soil said that the martyrdom of Bachan Singh will be remembered by all countrymen.
He said India has a great history of sacrifices and thousands of countrymen have laid down their lives during freedom struggle saying “we owe a lot to them and their family members”.
S. Manjit Singh, former Minister spoke on the life of Shaheed Bachan Singh and described him a great son of the soul who brought a great name to the State.
Brig R.S. Langey (retd) Director Rajya Sainik Board also paid rich tributes to Shaheed Bachan Singh and narrated the steps taken by State and Central Governments for the welfare of widows and families of martyrs and retired army men. He also appreciated the role of security forces in stamping out militancy in the State.
Among others, who paid tributes included Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Mubark Singh, several local leaders Sat Pal, Col. Upadhay, Khajur Singh, Pangotra, Dev Raj, S. Mohan Singh and Satpal Singh.
