State kabaddi meet in Kathua from Dec 31 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, December 23: Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association shall be holding the State (senior) Kabaddi Championship at Government Degree College grounds Kathua, from December 31 to January two. The competition shall take place on league-cum-knock out basis with participants must not be over 80 kg of weight in men section and 70 kg in women’s category. “The three-day state championship shall be declared open at 1 pm. And, to make it a success, teams from Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama, Anantnag and Baramulla districts have confirmed their participation for the competition,” president of the Association, Anil Gupta told press here today. This state championship shall become basis for selection of the state teams for the forthcoming Senior North Zone Kabaddi Championship to be held at Delhi from January seven to January nine. “The selected state teams shall depart for the venue in Delhi on January six. The whole contingent will be sponsored by the J&K State Sports Council,” informed general secretary of the Association, Kuldeep Gupta. He further disclosed that the Association has decided to felicitate those players and officials who have represented the country at the international level with newly constituted `Pt Prem Nath Dogra Award’. The Association has identified four individuals to be honoured with the Award. They are BS Tirthi (coach), Rakesh Sharma (player), Dinesh Gupta and Kuldeep Gupta (technical officials).
