Gulmarg with -6.2 temp in Kashmir, Leh -10.2 temp in Ladakh coldest | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Dec 23 : World famous ski resort of Gulmarg with minus 6.2 degree in Kashmir and Leh with minus 10.2 degrees in Ladakh region were the coldest. The day temperature was above normal while the minimum has also slightly improved in the region.
A weather office spokesman said Gulmarg, which still awaits heavy snowfall of the winter so far, recorded minus 6.2 degree minimum temperature during the night. It was 0.6 degree colder than yesterday when it was minus 5.6 degree.
However, elsewhere in the valley, the minimum had slightly improved.
Kupwara, a frontier district in north Kashmir was second coldest after the minimum was recorded minus 4.3 degree against yesterdays minus 5.5 degree.
The summer capital Srinagar, where the minimum was minus 5.4 degree yesterday, was minus 3.5 degree this morning.
There was also improvement in the minimum temperature at health resort of Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in south Kashmir. Against yesterdays minus 5.6 degree it was minus 3.2 degree this morning.
Against minus 5.6 degree at Qazigund yesterday, it was minus 3.2 degree this morning, he said.
People in Ladakh region continued to shiver because of dry cold weather conditions.
At Leh it was minus 10.2 degree and Kargil minus 9.2 degree during the night. However, in the upper reaches the minimum was between minus 15 degree to minus 25 degree.
