Elect honest, capable representatives in panchayat polls: Dy CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, DEC 23: Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Tara Chand today called upon people of the State to participate in the forthcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies elections with enthusiasm. Mr. Tara Chand was addressing one-day congress workers convention at Aijal Malal village of Khour block today. Appealing the people to elect honest, sincere and dedicated candidates only, Mr. Tara Chand said that the representatives should be able to deliver their responsibilities and understand peoples’ problems. Stressing on strengthening forces of secularism in the state, Deputy Chief Minister said that the great leaders of the nation like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and Mrs. Indira Gandhi have laid strong edifice for secular and liberal democratic India, adding it was the duty of the new generation to reinforce these ideals for making India strong and prosperous. He said it was time to accelerate progress and prosperity of the State and unitedly discourage anti-social and anti-national forces. Urging people to strengthen the hands of government in implementation of development and welfare schemes, Deputy Chief Minister said that people should keep eagles eye on implementation of development works and bring to the notice of public representatives complaints regarding any discrepancy in utilization of funds. Responding to the various demands of people on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister reiterated government’s resolve to address all the issues confronting people in a phased manner. He said that the government is aware of the problems being faced by them and steps are underway to mitigate their grievances.
