JMC continues anti encroachment drive | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 23: The Enforcement Staff of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) further continued the anti- encroachment drive to clear the footpaths and pavements under instructions of JMC Commissioner S C Sawhney. The team visited the areas of Bikram Chowk, Gandhi Nagar, Below Gummat, Indira Chowk and removed encroachments Led by Satish Khajuria Chief Enforcement Officer, the JMC team seized the goods and articles including juicer machines, umbrellas, weighing scales, ply wood boards, benches, counters, artificial stone case, tooth repairing material bags etc which were placed by the shopkeepers and vendors by encroaching upon footpaths. During the drive the team also seized 9 rehries which were found stationary / without Rehrie License on footpaths / pavements causing obstruction in the free flow of vehicular traffic and pedestrians. Besides this, the team also demolished four ‘tandoors’ which were found fixed on the pavements. The Jammu Municipal Corporation appealed to the shopkeepers to keep their goods within their shops/establishments to avoid seizure of these goods and penalty for such defaults. The Rehari owners are also asked to keep their reharies mobile as the stationary reharies are source of obstruction for the free flow of vehicular traffic and also cause inconvenience to the pedestrians.
