Govt keen to eradicate illiteracy from State: Bhalla | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 23: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla said that the teaching fraternity are playing a significant role in spreading education in the State and supplement the Government efforts to remove darkness of ignorance and illiteracy from the society. This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering at a function held at Government Primary School, Nanak Nagar, Jammu here today. Headmaster Sneh Lata besides teaching and non-teaching staff members, prominent personalities, students and parents were present on the occasion. He called upon the teaching fraternity to put in their sincere efforts in shaping the personality of the students so that they could successfully face the emerging challenges in this world of competition. Describing teachers as pillars of nation, the Minister said that they have greater role to play for building the country a strong and prosperous nation. He stressed upon the teachers to also impart moral education, side by side academics adding that this is as necessary to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and communal harmony in the state. Bhalla asked the parents to send their wards in schools adding that they are the main architect in shaping the personality of their children. Earlier, the students of primary standard presented a colourful cultural item which was highly appreciated by the audience. Later, Bhalla also distributed fee, books and copies to weaker sections children so that they could continue their studies in the school.
