| Divorced girl burns herself outside call centre, serious | | | Jammu: Under depression after divorce by her husband, a young woman today set herself afire outside a call centre at Bhatindi on the city outskirts as a result of which she sustained severe burns.
Deepika Gupta of Nanak Nagar and Rohit Sharma, who worked in the same call centre at Bhatindi, got married about an year back. Their marriage was, however, broken about two months back when they got divorced, police sources said.
She left the call centre job after marriage, but rejoined it only yesterday. Today, she was alleged to have a verbal duel with Rohit at the call centre, the sources added.
Sources said she later managed kerosene oil from somewhere and then set herself ablaze outside the call centre in full public view.
Locals extinguished the fire and evacuated her to the GMC hospital. She was said to have sustained about 70 per cent burn injuries. Her family members said she was under depression after her divorce. They alleged that Rohit and his family members tortured the girl when she went their home after marriage. Police had registered a case in this connection. |
