Measures afoot to expand ambit of quality education: Bhalla

JAMMU, Dec 24: Reiterating the commitment of the coalition Government in extending reach of education to every corner of the State, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said that Government has taken many initiatives in this regard opening and upgrading scores of new schools.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a gathering at an annual day function of Luthra Public School, Talab Tillo, Jammu, here today.
Explaining the educative value of organizing annual days in educational institutions, the Minister said that such occasions provide an opportunity to the students to exhibit their hidden talent on a common platform and provide them an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the cultural and heritage of the State. He said co-curricular activities should form an integral part of the curriculum for the overall development of student’s personality. He asked the teachers to imbibe moral values among the students to help them become responsible citizens.
Minister appealed the parents to send their children in schools and colleges so that they become good citizens after having quality education and complete the challenges at national and international levels.
Bhalla said that coalition government was committed to provide better civic amenities to all, he said that massive development activities have been launched across the state. He said that an affective monitoring mechanism have been put in place to enforce accountability and transparency in the implementation of the developmental schemes.
On the occasion, the students of the school presented a colourful cultural programme which was highly appreciated by the audience.
Later, the Minister also distributed mementos among the participants of the cultural programme.
Member Parliament, Lal Singh, former Deputy Chief Minister, Mangat Ram Sharma, Chairman of the school, Rajeev Luthra, Principal, Sanjeev Luthra besides prominent personalities, students, parents, teaching and non-teaching staff members were present on the occasion.
