Govt has disappointed people living on both sides of LoC: PDP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Rajouri Dec 24 : Senior PDP leader Shahzad Khan has strongly criticised the coalition Government for what he said letting down the hopes of the people to bring them closer to their near ones on the other side of the LoC. In a press release Shahzad said that the present coalition government failed to take off from where the Mufti Syeed regime had left in improving the economic activity of the region.Shahzad said that opening of the Mughal road has shown a tremendous fall in the rates of certain items including apples. The Chief Minister in his speech a few days back has accepted the fact that “the rate of a kilo of apple had reduced from Rs.50-Rs.70 to Rs.10- Rs.20 this year.” The PDP leader termed the claims of the NC led government as hollow questioning “What has the present coalition government done? .......It is reaping the fruits of Mufti Syeed regime and selling as its own," the PDP leader alleged. On the state of affairs of the cross LoC trade, Khan said the state government is doing nothing to solve the genuine problems of the people. The traders have been demanding the improvement and development of infrastructural facilities including easy banking system, telephone services with their counterparts on the other side of LoC, building of warehouse and easy permission to trade among a few other demands. There also need to be set up a Tourist Reception Centre so as to promote tourism. But unfortunately it has even failed to utilize the funds amounting to Rs. 2 crores allotted for the development of a TRC at Poonch by the Mufti Syeed government. Even the land for this purpose is yet to be identified Among others who spoke included Ch.Manzoor, Nadeem Sheikh, Aurangzeb, Shabir Mirza,Mohd Sayeed,Iqbal Shah, Moulana Nawaz, Moulana Farooq, Jahangir khan, Tanveer Ch.Barkat Hussain etc.
