| Workshop for NGOS on environment awareness campaign | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU Dec 24: World fund for nature today organized a workshop of participating NGOs in the National environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC) and national green crops (NGC) project of ministry of environment and forests Government of India to discuss launching of Paryanvaran Mitra (Friends of Environment) project in Jammu and Kashmir State.
More than fifty environmental NGOs from all the districts of Jammu province attended the workshop which was addressed by eminent speakers on the subject P.P Sharma IFS (Rtd) Chairman state environment Authority, S.D. Swatantra IFS (Rtd),V.P Sharma Chairperson WWF, Prof Anil Sharma HOD environment sciences Jammu University, Kavita Suri Jammu University Renu Nana Prof Education department Jammu University and Sabina Majahan Publicity officers pollution of forests, air pollution waste management and culture and heritage.
Participants were informed that ministry of environment and forest GOI, CEE Himalaya and WWF- India shall launch the new project of Paryavaran Mitra in the month of January 2011 jointly with the support of forest and education departments in the state of J&K.
