Separate Board for Bakerwal community demanded | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU: 24 Dec: Choudhary Mohammad Akbar president J&K Bakerwal United Front has demanded the Government to set up a separate Board for Bakerwal community for the betterment and upliftment and development at all levels. The United front has appealed to the High Court to ensure justice in the matter of J&K state advisory board for the development of Gujjars and Bakerwals for equal sharing of Board Members in J&K State advisory board for the development In the press conference held here today he allged that even the government has set up a Board for the Gujjar and Bakerwal community, but the Bakerwals are being given less status and recognition than that of Gujjars. In the 42 member Gujjar and Bakerwal advisory board only five members have been nominated from Bakerwals and none of the female candidate has been nominated fromthis community, he said criticising the pattern of nominations through advisor board , which he said is injustice to their community . They said the community of bakerwals is largely illiterate as hardly any individual passes their middle and matric standards. "In this behalf we intend that the candidate of our community should be given special relaxations in various governments’ jobs", they said further demanding a separate girl’s hostel for the community girls. The Front has also demanded proper census of this community and issuance of state subjects, ration card regarding by a convenient way besides issuances of ration of the nomadic tribes at war footing.
